The chubby flashlight fish (''Electrona risso'') is a species of lanternfish in the family Myctophidae. This mesopelagic marine fish is found at depths of 90-820 m. The males can reach 8.2 cm in length and have 32-34 vertebrae. This species is sexually mature from 5.9 cm long. It is oviparous with planktonic larvae and eggs. It spawns in the Mediterranean mainly between summer and autumn. It is prey for many piscivores, including the splendid alfonsino in the Azores, and Fraser's dolphin and the spinner dolphin in the Philippines. ''E. risso'' preys on copepods.
